The Young Adult Abuse Prevention Program (YAAPP) is the prevention team at Family Crisis Services. YAAPP delivers education, services, and advocacy that enable youth to make choices within their dating relationships that are safe, healthy, and informed.

YAAPP’s offerings are free to all schools and organizations in Cumberland County, Maine.

Family Crisis Services established the Young Adult Abuse Prevention Program (YAAPP) in 1995 to prevent future domestic violence. YAAPP works with schools and community groups to educate youth using interactive presentations that focus on dating violence and that provide youth with the information and skills they need to think critically about relationships. YAAPP also offers one-to-one advocacy for youth who are experiencing dating abuse.

All YAAPP staff receive 40 hours of domestic violence training, pass background checks, and are insured through Family Crisis Services.
